Welcome!
I am yoga teacher, health psychologist and academic. I have been practising yoga and meditation since my early 20’s and teaching yoga since 2013. I became a yoga teacher because yoga is such an important part of my life and a practice that I love to share with others. In my academic role, I conduct research into the health benefits of yoga, so that also feeds into my approach to teaching yoga. As both psychologist and yoga teacher, I am interested in how to live well and enhance wellbeing, whether managing stress, illness or life!
I trained with the Yoga Academy, a 200-hour BWY accredited course, qualifying in 2014. More recently I qualified as a Menopause yoga teacher (2020) and completed Yoga4Health professional training with Yoga in Healthcare Alliance (PCI accredited) (2023). I regularly attend other professional trainings with a wide range of teachers.
What is yoga?
Yoga is not just a practice for flexible people, it is for every body!
Yoga is a whole system for living well – ethical guidance towards oneself and others (such as contentment and non-harming), a physical practice to keep the body strong, techniques to breathe well, and concentration and meditation practices to calm the mind and delve deeper into our consciousness. Whilst you can just take one aspect, bring them all together and it provides a wonderful system to live well and authentically. Yoga helps us to be more connected with our bodies and develop greater control over our overly busy minds.
